The YMCA of Greenwich will hold swim evaluations for the children who will participate in their special needs swim program Saturday, Sept. 24 at 1 p.m. This program was made possible by a grant from the Abilis Community Foundation. The grant allowed the YMCA to purchase special steps for the pool to make entry and exit easier for the special needs swimmers. To commemorate the start of the program, YMCA CEO Bob DeAngelo and Abilis Community Foundation President Hal Ritch will preside over a brief ribbon cutting ceremony. Abilis CEO Dennis Perry and YMCA of Greenwich Board Chair Sandy Waters will be in attendance.

The Abilis Community Foundation generously awarded a $10,000 grant to the YMCA of Greenwich to develop a new swimming program for children with special needs. The course will teach basic water safety and swimming concepts to children with disabilities and their caregivers.

The YMCA of Greenwich is located at 50 E. Putnam Ave.
