Greenwich-Avenue-Surveying-mapThe Town of Greenwich, Department of Public Works, Engineering Division will be overseeing the topographic surveying of Greenwich Avenue and portions of surrounding streets, as depicted on the accompanying map. The work involves licensed surveyors recording location and elevation information of existing buildings, utilities and all roadway and pedestrian facilities. The fieldwork is scheduled to start Friday, Aug. 26 and is expected to be completed by Friday, Nov. 18. The expected schedule is weather dependent.

Tectonic Engineering and Surveying Consultants (the Town’s consultant) anticipates starting at the intersections of West Putnam Avenue and Greenwich Avenue/Lafayette Court/Lafayette Place and gradually make their way south to the intersections of Bruce Park Avenue and Greenwich Avenue/Mason Street.

Traffic lanes and pedestrian walkways will remain open and fully operational throughout the duration of the project. Crew members may be surveying building corners, door thresholds and any other exterior improvements but will not need to enter buildings during this phase of the project. Some on- street and off-street parking areas may be posted with “NO PARKING” signs for short durations throughout the project. Please take notice of the signs posted on associated parking meters to avoid vehicles being towed. No more than five parking stalls will be posted at any given time.

For the first two to three weeks of the project, work will occur between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Work thereafter will occur mostly overnight between midnight and 6 a.m., with some work occurring between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The public is asked to be patient as there will be some inconveniences during the duration of the project. Anyone interested in obtaining further information can contact Jason Kaufman, P.E., Civil Engineer II, at 203-622-7767, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
