The Retired Men’s Association of Greenwich, Inc. (RMA) invites the community to its meeting Wednesday, Aug. 17 at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Greenwich, to hear Dr. Joonun (Chris) Choi discussing “Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Your Heart But Were Afraid To Ask.”

What can go wrong with your heart? Plenty. Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are the most common cause of death globally as of 2008, accounting for 30% of deaths. Dr. Choi will speak about heart problems to watch out for, how to treat this organ with the care and respect that it deserves, and current approaches and trends in treating heart issues.

Choi is the Director of Cardiology Resident Medical Education at Stamford Hospital. He serves as the Medical Director for Stamford Health Cardiac Testing Center at Mill River, Stamford. Choi is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at Columbia University Medical School. He serves as the Chair of the Stamford Hospital Ethics Committee. Choi is the Editor of The Pulse, the physicians’ quarterly newsletter for the Stamford Health Heart & Vascular Institute. He has been selected as a “Top Doc” by Castle and Connolly. He was chosen by his peers as Physician of the Quarter in March 2016. He graduated from New York Medical College and completed his residency in Internal Medicine and Cardiology Fellowship at St. Vincent’s Hospital (Manhattan). He then completed a fellowship in Advanced Echo at Columbia University Medical Center. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Nuclear Medicine, and Echocardiography.

The Greenwich Retired Men’s Association offers a free program every Wednesday that is open to the public. No reservations are required. The social break starts at 10:40 a.m. followed promptly by speaker at 11. Programs are at the First Presbyterian Church of Greenwich, 1 West Putnam Avenue.
