The Board of Directors of Greenwich Land Trust announces the retirement of Virginia “Ginny” Gwynn after almost nine years as Executive Director. She will retire this month.

Gwynn led GLT through an extraordinary transition including the acquisition of the Mueller Preserve and the subsequent success of the GLT’s $1.5 million capital campaign to create the new GLT Conservation Center at the Preserve.

Additionally, Gwynn expanded the professional staff, led GLT successfully through the Land Trust Alliance’s national accreditation process, redefined and expanded stewardship efforts and guided many land acquisitions.

“Ginny’s leadership can only be described as outstanding; her list of accomplishments significant. Her legacy as Executive Director will continue to have a positive and profound impact on GLT for years to come. We will miss her and wish her all the best with her future plans,” notes Janice Trebbi Richards, Board of Directors President.

At their July Board meeting, GLT Board of Directors announced that a new educational trail at the GLT Conservation Center will be named the Virginia Gwynn Heritage Preservation Trail. This is to honor Gwynn’s dedication and achievements as Executive Director from 2008 to 2016 for GLT and land conservation in the community.

Ann Sawyer, a former Executive Director and Board member of GLT will serve as interim Executive Director until a permanent replacement is found.
