Art Society to hold Members Juried Flinn Exhibition

The Greenwich Art Society announces its Annual Members Juried Exhibition 2016, “Powers of Observation” from Aug. 11 to 30, at the Flinn Gallery in the Greenwich Library.

On Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 6 and 7 from 2 to 4 p.m., GAS Member/Artists are invited to submit their works on site at the gallery to be judged by this year’s juror, Margaret Kross from the Whitney Museum, Permanent Collection. Margaret is currently assisting Dana Miller, Richard DeMartini Family Curator and Director of the Collection on the museum’s major monographic exhibition devoted to the work of Carmen Herrera (b. 1915, Havana, Cuba) opening in September. At the Whitney, she also facilitates the processing of new acquisitions and conducts research on works in the Permanent Collection. Margaret is currently an M.A. Candidate in Modern Art at Columbia University and holds a B.A. in Visual Studies, magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to the Whitney, Margaret gained experience working directly with living artists at Paula Cooper Gallery, where she assisted with exhibitions for Carl Andre, Mark di Suvero, Sherrie Levine, Sol LeWitt, Christian Marclay, and Robert Wilson, among others. She also worked at Laurel Gitlen, N.Y. to provide support for a program of emerging artists. Margaret has held curatorial internships at Dia Art Foundation, the Whitney Museum, and ICA Philadelphia.

There will be an opening reception Thursday, Aug. 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. The Flinn Gallery is located at 101 W. Putnam Avenue. Gallery hours are: Monday to Wednesday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday 1 to 5 p.m.
