(1) Cool Adventures for Hot Days: Color Day – Prepare to Get Messy!

August 4 @ 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Bruce Museum1 Museum Drive, Greenwich, 06830-7157

We all know that kids love to get messy. It seems to be part of the contract to be a kid! Bring your family to the Bruce Museum for cool adventures on hot days (for children ages 6 to12 years old). Children can enjoy a fun-filled exploration of the Museum’s current exhibitions and hands-on activities. The topic is “Color Day – Prepare to Get Messy!”. Some of the color mixing and painting activities include tie-dying, splatter painting and color combat. Each afternoon session costs $60 for non-members, $45 for museum members.

(2) Bedtime Story/Craft with Miss Judy and Miss Lyn

August 4 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Cos Cob Library – Community Room5 Sinawoy Rd

Bring your kids to the Cos Cob library to join Miss Judy for some interesting stories about Bugs and Butterflies! After story time, make a related craft with Miss Lyn. PJ’s are encouraged, which will make for a fun (and comfortable) event!

Visit the library or call 203-622-6883 to reserve a spot.

(3) Thursday Evening Book Club

August 4 @ 7:30 pm – 8:45 pm

Cos Cob Library5 Sinawoy Road

The adults get their turn later in the evening! Visit the Cos Cob Library for their popular evening book club led by facilitator, Judy Berg, as the group discusses popular fiction and non-fiction. This evening’s book is FRANNY AND ZOOEY by J.D. Salinger. The book is a combination of two short stories, originally published in the 1950’s. All are welcome.

(4) Play Golf!

There are many great options for golf in Greenwich, including the Griffith E. Harris Golf Course on King Street. With temperatures and humidity settling down, it might be a perfect day to head to “The Griff.” We have a nasty habit of losing golf balls on this challenging course, so stop by the shop and pick up a sleeve before playing nine or 18 holes.

(5) Movie Night

There are so many ways to watch movies now, such as streaming services, DVD’s, Blu-ray, and so on. Here’s a different idea: harken back to the days of yore and create your own drive-in theater. It can be as easy as putting a TV outside or renting a projector, draping a sheet, and making it look like a big screen. The ideas are endless! Grab the popcorn and the candy and enjoy a film under the stars!
