The Department of Parks and Recreation announces that internationally renowned jazz banjoist and vocalist, Cynthia Sayer, will be performing with her band at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park Wednesday, Aug. 3, 7:15 to 8:45 p.m. Our rain date is Thursday, Aug. 4.

Award-winning instrumentalist, vocalist and bandleader Cynthia Sayer defies all the banjo player assumptions. Sayer is celebrated as one of the top four-string jazz banjoists in the world today. Get ready for a family-friendly evening of fun, eclectic music, based on 1920s & 30s hot jazz.

Sayer is a founding member of Woody Allen’s New Orleans Jazz Band, and has played with Bucky Pizzarelli, Dick Hyman, Les Paul, Marvin Hamlisch, Wynton Marsalis, Andy Statman, John McEuen (Nitty Gritty Dirt Band), and many others. Sayer was inducted into the American Banjo Hall Of Fame, played for two U.S. Presidents, and performed with The New York Philharmonic.

Now is your chance to listen to Cynthia Sayer right in your own backyard. Bring a picnic dinner, a blanket and come for some wonderful music under the stars.

Roger Sherman Baldwin Park is located on Arch Street by the Teen Center, and Island Beach Ferry Dock.
