Greenwich Town Party announces first Silent, Online Auction

The Greenwich Town Party, Inc., a non-profit organization, will host an online benefit auction from Tuesday, May 24 through Sunday, May 29 surrounding the sixth annual event. The 2016 Greenwich Town Party, a day-long family music festival, is set for Saturday, May 28, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park. Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees Daryl Hall & John Oates, Grammy award winners John Fogerty and Tedeschi Trucks Band, as well as CJ Chenier and the Red Hot Louisiana Band, and six local bands will rock this year’s crowd.  Each year, the GTP brings multiple generations of Greenwich residents together to celebrate town pride and the spirit of giving. The proceeds from this first-ever auction will help support the party’s sustainability for future years. The auction will consist of more than 100 items and experiences ranging from $25 to $50,000. The majority of lots include items donated by Greenwich businesses and residents ranging from travel and sports to jewelry and art.

Each year, substantial donations from town residents and local businesses provide the majority of party funding, allowing the General Admission ticket price to stay lower than the actual cost. Thanks to the continued generosity of sponsors and donors, the ticket prices have been reduced to a fraction of what they would have been for such a large event. There will be a GTP Donation Tent on-site during the Party, and organizers encourage all attendees to donate something to keep the GTP sustainable for years to come. All donations, regardless of the amount, will be matched by an anonymous and generous benefactor.

“Every year, the Greenwich Town Party kicks off the summer by bringing people together to celebrate our amazing community.  The event has grown into the most popular ticket in town,” said Ray Rivers, Co-President and Director of Development, GTP. “It’s a day for the whole family to enjoy and the community has really embraced the GTP mission – participating, donating and doing what they can to make this event a success. As the community began to understand the mission, support for the event has grown every year.  Now that we have the community behind us we can look forward to having the Greenwich Town Party for many years to come.”

Powered by 501 Auctions, the online auction will be open for one week surrounding the event and will be open to everyone, whether they are ticket holders or not, beginning at 12 p.m., Tuesday, May 24 at http://501auctions.com/gtpauction16. This will enable more people and businesses to participate and donate, bringing the whole community together for one cause.  The online auction will end the day after the GTP, on Sunday, May 29 at 6 p.m., so everyone can participate in the celebration all day Saturday. This year, there will also be one special auction item featured in the Donation Tent: Headliners Daryl Hall & John Oates have signed a guitar available for on-site bidding (this item is not available in the online auction).
