Greenwich High Tennis Falls to New Canaan in Thriller, 4-3

The Greenwich High School girls tennis team gave it everything they had against a talented New Canaan squad, but were defeated 4-3 Monday afternoon.

Big Red picked up wins in the top two singles matches, as Maddie Arnold beat Caroline Gordon 6-3, 6-0 in No. 1 singles, while Maggie Glynn came back and beat Caroline Mayock 5-7, 6-1, 7-5 in No. 2 singles.

Greenwich’s other victory on the day came at No. 2 doubles, as Hannah Crasto and Sakura Yurugi upended Brittany Barber and Camaren Dayton 6-3, 6-4.

In the two singles losses for the Cardinals, both were hard-fought defeats. In No. 3 singles, Martine Fierro lost to Ashley Walker 7-6 (7-1), 6-2, while Camilla Akerman lost to Camryn Schlim in No. 4 singles 3-6, 6- 4, 6-2.
