Sacred Heart Tennis Beats GFA, Clinches FAA Title

The Sacred Heart Greenwich tennis team didn’t let its seniors down on Senior Day, as they finished off Greens Farms Academy 6-1 Tuesday afternoon.

With the victory, the Tigers upped its overall record to 12-0 and 7-0 in the Fairchester Athletic Association. More importantly the win also clinched the FAA championships.

On Senior Day, it was the seniors that paced Sacred Heart past the Dragons. In No. 2 singles, Madison Miles defeated Sarah Wagner 6-0, 7-6(6). Fellow seniors Brooke Wilkens and Kensi Almeida also were victorious.

In No. 1 doubles, Wilkens, along with teammate Stephanie Beshoory blasted the duo of Lydia Picoli and Blair Marine. 6-0, 6-1. Almeida, along with Juliette Guice, finished off Alexis Messina and Avery York by the same 6-0, 6-1 score.

The Tigers also had other stellar performances. At No. 1 singles, Sam Falcon came away with the 1-6, 6-4, 10-5 victory over Greens Farm’s Devon Wolfe, while Nathalie Perreault competed at No. 4 singles and defeated Allie Agnew 6-0, 6-1.

Sacred Heart’s other victory came at No. 3 doubles, as the team of Ally Schwarz and Megan Farrell finished off Lauren Ritchey and Brynley Close from GFA 6-0, 6-2.
