For the second consecutive day, the Greenwich High School girls golf team played in less than ideal conditions.

Despite the rain and chilly weather that blanketed the Griffith E. Harris Golf Course, Big Red was able to come away with the hard-fought victory over Danbury High School 187-191 Wednesday afternoon.

Playing on The Griff’s par 37, the Cardinals were led by Catherine McEvoy, who parred all but two holes under nasty playing conditions and finished with a 3-over par 40.

Not to be outdone was Ashley Feighery, who carded 9-over par 46. Finishing with a 13-0ver par 50 was Gracie Sunoo, while Tess Lamhaouar was only one stroke behind.

For the Hatters, Katelyn Mooney led her team with a 5-over par 42 and Danielle Palinchok ended the day with a 8-over par 45. Davyn Howe took home a 12-over par 49 and Victoria Beueti rounded out day by carding a 55.

With the win, Greenwich improved to 8-1 overall and 4-1 in the FCIAC Western Division. Danbury fell to 5-2 overall and 4-2 in the FCIAC Western Division.
