Starting pitcher Michael Marzonie went six strong innings and added a three-run homer in his first at-bat, helping the Brunswick School baseball team to a 10-4 FAA win over Rye Country Day on Thursday.

The victory is the ninth in a row for the Bruins (9-1, 6-0).

In the first inning, Marzonie’s three-run blast gave the visitors a big boost against the Wildcats.

Brunswick added three more runs in the third to take command of the game.

Following singles by Connor Redahan and Trevor Johnson, Wilson Salomon loaded the bases with a one-out single to left. Ryan Hanrahan followed with an RBI single, moving the runners ahead one base.

With the bases still loaded, Aaron Sabato drew a walk for a 5-0 lead.

Trystan Sarcone followed with a two-out, infield single that plated Salomon for a 6-0 advantage.

During Marzonie’s six innings of work, he allowed two runs, one earned, and fanned eight Wildcats, for his third win of the season (3-1).

Leading 6-2 in the top of the seventh, Brunswick tacked on four more runs on three hits. Keying the inning was an RBI double by Salomon, followed by a two-RBI double by Hanrahan.

The Wildcats added a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh for the 10-4 final.

Johnson collected three singles in three at-bats to lead the Brunswick hitters, as Redahan and Sarcone (two RBIs) each had a pair of singles in three at-bats. Salomon went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, while Hanrahan matched Salomon at the plate, while collecting three RBIs. Marzonie’s three-run homer was the Bruins’ other extra-base hit.

The Bruins return home for their next game, hosting Fieldston on Monday.
