Betteridge, one of Greenwich’s premier destinations for fine jewelry and watch connoisseurs, begins its annual sale this weekend.

For the first time, Betteridge held a private in-store sale Thursday evening with an intimate cocktail party for 150 of its high-end Greenwich clientele. Diamonds, rubies, antique sterling silver estate pieces, and high-end watches—essentially all inventory that has not sold within the past two years—are on sale for up to 60 percent savings.

Terry Betteridge, a fourth-generation jeweler and president of the company, sat down with the Greenwich Sentinel prior to tonight’s private event. “I like anything that is finely crafted,” he said. “It’s in my blood, as there are so many generations of craftsmen in my family. Tonight and over the weekend our special friends can enjoy some great savings on some truly remarkable pieces.”

Betteridge showcased select items, including an 1895 Tiffany platinum and 54-carat diamond necklace from a prominent banking family and a French pre-World War One ruby necklace. Also on sale are luxurious watches by Cartier, Rolex, vintage Chanel, and much more.

A French pre-World War One ruby necklace is also one of the featured gems available.

Established in 1897, Betteridge is one of the oldest family-owned jewelry and watch businesses in the world and has been a top seller in Greenwich since 1952. Recently, they moved their flagship store to 239 Greenwich Avenue, tripling their square footage, and recruited top architects and engineers to create the ultimate customer experience.

The new store has private rooms for intimate shopping, designated areas for top-selling brands, such as Rolex and Patek Philippe, and a sleek bar for guests to relax, unwind and try on prospective purchases.

While Betteridge also has locations in Palm Beach, Vail and Aspen, the Greenwich native remains quite fond of his home town. “I have always loved it here,” he said. “The history, the water, and the captains of industry were always in Greenwich, whether it was the Rockefellers or simply incredibly successful business innovators. We know our customers, though varied, we know their tastes, and business has been consistently good for us.”

The sale will be held through Sunday, April 24. For more information, please visit Betteridge.com.
