Greenwich YMCA Diver Heading to World Championships

After a stellar showing at USA Diving Synchronized National Championships, YMCA of Greenwich Marlins diver Carolina Sculti is on her way to two major competitions, the World Junior Diving Championships and Olympic Trials.

Sculti was one of the first five national titles awarded at the National Championships, held this year in San Antonio, Texas. Sculti and her partner Anne Fowler of Burke, Va. won the 14- to 18-years-old girls’ 3-meter title and qualified for the 2016 FINA World Junior Diving Championships in Russia.

Following Nationals, Sculti competed in the Olympic Trials Final Qualification Event and scored 293 points on the Women’s 3-meter springboard, solidifying her spot at Olympic Trials. At 15-years-old, Sculti is one of the youngest qualifier to these trials.

She started diving at the Greenwich YMCA Marlins Diving Club in 2008. In that year, she qualified for her first national championship. Since then, Sculti has earned multiple titles and medals.

Founded in 1916, the YMCA is the largest community-based membership organization in Greenwich. Part of a well-known YMCA national network, the Greenwich Y has over 5000 members and growing.
