In a hard-fought battle at Sacred Heart Greenwich, the Tigers upended Hotchkiss Saturday afternoon in girls lacrosse action 13-11.

After a slow start and turning the ball over a few times gave Hotchkiss the early lead, Sacred Heart was able to gain control of the game by finding its rhythm, maintaining possession and moving the ball.

“Offensively, we did a great job of recognizing when to push the fast break and when to slow it down,” said CSH head coach Tara Clough. “We have a young, close group of players this year with strong chemistry. They are incredibly supportive of one another. It is wonderful to see our players looking to make their teammates better players.”

Ryan Smith led the way for Sacred Heart with four goals and three assists. The duo of Haley Horn and Sammy Clark each finished with the hat trick, while Mae Briody added one goal and four assists. Not to be outdone was Grace Paletta, who netted one goal and two assists, while Charlie Clark took home a goal.

Emily Micciulli and Athena Corroon led the Tiger’s defensive effort against a very athletic Hotchkiss team and Sacred Hear’s midfielders didn’t stop fighting for possession until the final whistle. CSH goalie Maddie McLane had 12 saves.

Grace Paletta led the team in draw controls with four.
