Greenwich High Girls Tennis Dominates St. Joseph, 7-0

In commanding fashion, the Greenwich High School girls tennis team blanked St. Joseph High School, 7-0 earlier today.

In No. 1 singles, Big Red’s Maddie Arnold finished off Samantha Rudini 6-4, 6-0. Not to be outdone was Maggie Glynn at No. 2 singles, as she took care of Bridget Fatse 6-1, 6-0. At No. 3 singles, Martine Fierro blitzed Samantha Capozzi 6-0. 6-0.

Rounding out the singles competition was Big Red’s Melanie Murphy, as she beat St. Joe’s Jayne Hickey 6-0, 6-1.

While the Cardinals were strong at singles, they were lights out at doubles. The duo of Camilla Akerman and Maitlyn Murphy shut out Elizabeth Banquer and Claire Condon 6-0, 6-0.

Greenwich High’s No. 2 doubles team of Sakura Yurugi and Sage White beat Aimee Champagn and Kathryn Fitzsimmons 6-0, 6-0. Keeping the good times rolling was Sara Stober and Haley Stober, as they came away with the easy 6-0, 6-0 win.
