Brunswick Crew Takes the Golden Against in Saturday’s Regatta

The Brunswick School rowing team had an excellent outing to open its season on Saturday against Lawrenceville and the Mountain Lakes Rowing Club (N.J.), wining four out of five races at the Caspersen Rowing Center at Mercer Lake, just a few miles from Princeton University.

With a light cross tailwind on the 1500-meter course, the Bruins posted wins in the Varsity-8, Third-8, Fourth- and Fifth-8 races. Brunswick took the silver in the Second-8 race.

In the Varsity-8, Brunswick took home a time of 4:32.4 and beat Lawrenceville, who finished second with a time of 4:34.5. In the Third-8 race, the Bruins grabbed the gold with a time of 5:01.9 and easily beat Mountain Lakes, which was second with a time of 5:13.8.

During the Fourth-8 race, Brunswick was tops with a time of 5:13.7 and was seven seconds faster than Mountain Lakes, which grabbed the silver with a time of 5:36.0. In the Fifth-8 race, Brunswick was tops with a time of 5:20 and was 10 seconds quicker than Lawrenceville.

In the Second-8 competition, it was Mountain Lakes that edged out Brunswick, posting a time of 4:50.7. Inches away from Brunswick, posting a second place time of 4:51.9.

The Bruins return to the water on Saturday, April 9, as they travel to Lake Washinee to face Salisbury, Tabor and Boston College High School.
