Les Beaux Arts Gallery at Round Hill Community Church will be featuring a collection of biblical mixed media collages by Robin Joyce Miller, a visual artist specializing in African American Heritage themes. The exhibit, “A Man Called Jesus,” will open on Sunday, March 20 with an artist talk at 11:30 a.m., and will run through Wednesday, May 4.

This evocative series includes 23 paintings created with decorative paper, acrylic, and other materials like beads and gimp braid edging. The artist says “Color, texture and visual rhythms characterize my unique style of mixed media collage.” Miller’s inspiration comes from biblical paintings that her brother brought back from Ethiopia. She incorporated many techniques associated with Ethiopian folk art into her work to bring the biblical scenes to life.

Miller is a retired art educator, poet, and author. She studied art at New York School of Interior Design, Parson’s School of Design, and Manhattanville College. Her work has been exhibited in numerous venues, among them the Brooklyn Children’s Museum. Miller is the author and illustrator of Rhythms of a Faithful Journey: Verses from Slavery to Presidency. Her new book, Who Do You Say That I Am? A Man Called Jesus, will be available at the Gallery.

Les Beaux Arts Gallery is located at Round Hill Community Church, 395 Round Hill Road. The Gallery is open Sunday, 11 a.m. to noon, Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., closed Saturday. For more information, visit roundhillcommunitychurch.org or call 203-869-1091.
