If you know an unsung veteran, Stand For The Troops (SFTT) would like to hear from you. The Fairfield County-based nonprofit nonpartisan organization is accepting nominations of area veterans to be recognized at its 2016 Warriors Ball on April 16. SFTT has been supporting the troops with more than lip service for 18 years. It dedicates its resources to safeguarding the physical, mental and emotional well-being of America’s serving and returning frontline troops. To nominate a veteran or serving member of the armed forces, email info@sftt.org with “Unsung Veteran” in the subject line or phone SFTT at 203-629-0288 by March 17.

Last year, SFTT was privileged to salute 10 men and women who put their lives on hold and on the line in conflicts from the Gulf War to Iraq and Afghanistan. This year’s Warriors Ball salute and dinner dance is set for Saturday, April 16, at 7 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus, 507 Shippan Avenue, Stamford. It is being hosted by Greenwich resident Eilhys England Hackworth, Chair of Stand For The Troops, which she co-founded with her late husband Col. David Hackworth, and by SFTT President MAJ GEN John Batiste (Ret).

Billy and the Showmen will perform and Mike ‘Motts’ Pellaza returns as Emcee. Proceeds from the dinner dance, silent auction and raffle will benefit SFTT’s “PTS & TBI” Rescue Coalition. Tickets ($75; $140 for two) are now available online at sftt.org/events.php
