The Greenwich High School boys swimming and diving team made the most of its final regular season match of the season, blitzing the Fairfield Warde/Ludlowe combined team 123-62 Friday.

Using a young line-up, Greenwich was led by Pat Clisham. The junior, swimming in events that he rarely swims, pulled out two individual firsts in the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard backstroke.

In the 200-yard IM, Clisham touched the wall first with a time of 2:08.64. Not to be outdone in the 100-back, he grabbed first overall with a time of 59.79 seconds.

Captain Nick Handali swam to a strong 50.79 win in the 100-yard freestyle, while sophomore Mac Baxter showed his improvement with a six second drop to win the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:26.66.

Two other sophomores, Jack Bound and Matt Li also came out victorious in the 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard breaststroke respectively. Bound’s time was an impressive 58.42, while Li touched the wall with a time of 1:06.73.

Fellow sophomore Devon Satir continued his diving dominance, leading classmate Sergei Shaw to an impressive one-two finish with scores of 268.58 and 234.38.

In the relays, Big Red came home with two top swims. In the 200-yard medley relay, the foursome of Li, Pat King, Clisham and Nick Handali took home first with a time of 1:46.11. In the final event of the day, the 400-yard freestyle relay, Greenwich’s Brian O’Leary, Tyler Jester, Noah Sorensen and Ryan Lynch led the way with a time of 3:43.23.

With the win, Greenwich finished the regular season a perfect 11-0. Big Red will be back in action Thursday at 6:30 p.m. when it hosts the FCIAC championships.

On Monday, GHS will get ready for the FCIAC finals by swimming and diving in the trials.
