Although the snow is pouring down on Greenwich, it doesn’t hurt to think ahead to spring. For the Greenwich High School rugby team, the spring sports season can’t come fast enough.

In the first national rankings of the Goff Rugby Report for 2016, the Cardinals are a top 10 team, sitting in seventh place in the country out of 30 named schools according to the rankings that came out yesterday.

Just ahead of Big Red in sixth place is Greenwich’s biggest rival, Xavier High School based out of New York. Greenwich High is one spot ahead of Mira Costa High School, based out of Manhattan Beach, Calif.

Overall it’s Gonzaga College High School, located in Washington, D.C., that’s the top team in the country.

Both Xavier and Greenwich are the lone Tri-state area teams in the Goff Rugby Report, which can be found here.
