Behind strong performances from Adnerys DeJesus, Kelsey Fedorko and Jessica Freiheit, the Greenwich High gymnastics team improved to 7-0 with a 142.20-133.20 win over Wilton High on Monday night.

DeJesus, the high-flying sophomore, posted a career-best floor performance with a score of 9.6, in one of her three event wins. She posted a match-high score of 37.8.

“I love competing with my team,” DeJesus said following the match. “They are a really strong group of girls. I’m glad I got to join the team as a sophomore. There’s always room for improvement, but overall, we had a great meet.”

Fedorko finished first on beam with a career-best score of 9.55 and also posted career-high score of 9.2 on the vault. She finished with a match score of 35.65.

Rounding out the top three for the Lady Cardinals, Freiheit delivered a strong performance on the bars with a second-place finish of 8.7 and a final meet score of 35.2. Coming off a fourth-overall performance in last year’s FCIAC Championship meet, she says the sky is the limit for this year’s young but talented team.

“We want to focus on refining our skills as we get closer to FCIAC’s,” Freheit said. “We want to keep up our consistency. Winning FCIACs and placing top three in the state would be excellent. I know GHS hasn’t had one in a couple decades. We have such good talent on the team this year.”

Aisling and Fiona Brock both captured career-best performances on both the beam and the vault. Syrah Perrin posted a career-high in the vault and Sophie Merz put up her best career score on the beam.

The Lady Cardinals will visit New Canaan to face both the host school and Westhill High on Wednesday, January 27.
