Pianist Joyce Yang to Star with Greenwich Symphony

On Jan. 23 and 24 the Greenwich Symphony will present pianist Joyce Yang performing Robert Schumann’s Piano Concerto in A minor, Op. 54. Ms. Yang has captivated audiences across the globe with her virtuosity, lyricism, and stage presence. She came to international attention in 2005 when she won the silver medal at the 12th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. Since that debut, she has performed with orchestras around the world, establishing herself as one of the leading artists of her generation. In 2010 she received an Avery Fisher Career Grant, one of classical music’s most prestigious accolades. The program will include selections from Iberia by Isaac Albéniz and Richard Strauss’s symphonic poem Macbeth.

The concerts will take place on Saturday, Jan. 23 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 24 at 4 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center at Greenwich High School. A free, pre-concert lecture will be given one hour before each performance. Tickets are $35 for adults and $10 for students.
