John W. “Jack” Dominice, Jr. died peacefully at Yale New Haven Hospital on Sunday, Dec. 6 with family members by his side. He was 74 years old.

Jack was born to John and Alice (Gasparini) Dominice on Aug. 7, 1941 in New Britain, Conn. He received an associate’s degree from Ward School of Electronics in Hartford. For the last 45 years he has lived in Greenwich, where he served as a Boy Scout Troop Leader.

Jack was an early adopter of technology. From 1989 to his retirement in 2010, he and his wife owned their own HVAC wholesale supply business with three Connecticut branches. In his spare time he cheered for the New York Yankees and the Dallas Cowboys.

Jack and his wife traveled extensively. His favorite place was the island of Aruba, which the Dominices visited twice a year. Jack also loved to grow vegetables in his garden—though it became the salad bar for neighborhood critters.

Jack is survived by his wife of 52 years Mariane (Hlavati); sons John (and wife Mary Jane) of Brookhaven, N.Y., and Robert (and wife Maria) of Stratford; daughter Patricia of Stamford; and granddaughters Alyssa and Megan of Greenwich; and sister Sharon (and spouse Don) of Old Saybrook.

Visitation will be held this evening, Dec. 11, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Castiglione Funeral Home, 544 Old Post Rd. No. 3, in Greenwich. A funeral Mass will be held tomorrow, Dec. 12, at 10 a.m. at St. Roch Church, 10 St. Roch Ave., Greenwich. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Connecticut Food Bank, P.O. Box 8686, New Haven, CT 06531, or to a charity of one’s choice. To leave an online condolence, please visit www.castiglionefh.com.
