On Nov. 19, Mothers for Others (MFO) held their first annual Moms’ Night Out to celebrate the spirit and generosity of dozens of volunteer moms in Greenwich. MFO Co-Presidents Brooke Bohnsack and Julie Rivard welcomed supporters, friends and guests to kick-off their 2015-2016 year of giving to families in need. Over 50 guests attended at the JHouse Hotel, sipped Basil Gimlets and raised funds in conjunction with The Needs Clearing House to assist a Domestic Violence victim and her four children buy beds after having to leave their home.

For the past four years, Karen and her dedicated volunteers – dozen of local moms – have been collecting, sorting, and distributing gently used baby equipment, toys, books and children’s clothing to needy families in the Greenwich community. The recipient families (clients) are identified by local social service agencies – including Greenwich Social Services, Family Centers, YWCA Domestic Abuse Services and Kids in Crisis. The families are provided a dignified “shopping experience” with an appointment through their caseworkers to meet with a team of MFO volunteers to “shop” and select essential childcare items.

“We were thrilled by the big turnout at Moms’ Night Out and the outpouring of monetary support to immediately assist a local family in need,” said Brooke Bohnsack, Mothers for Others Co-President.

“We are excited to kick off our year of giving and welcome volunteers, new and old, to work with us to donate gently used baby items to families right here in Greenwich and Stamford,” added Julie Rivard, Co-President.
