In a back-and-forth match at Hotchkiss Wednesday, the Brunswick School swim team eventually pulled away from the Bearcats for a 101-82 victory. The Bruins (3-0) set three team records on the day and qualified four more swimmers, 17 total, for the New England Championships later this year.

The Bruins placed a number of swimmers on the podium, including a gold, silver and bronze finish in the 200-yard freestyle, as Will Powers won with a time of 53.49 seconds, followed by Nico Apostolides and senior Jack Muccia.

Freshman Cole Pierce (58.17) was first in the 200-yard individual medley, as classmate Christian Farricker took second. Pierce added a 100-yard breaststroke win (56:60), while James Simone raced to a third-place finish.

Powers took the top spot in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:57.04, as Thatcher Scannell earned a third place finish.

Keegan Drew won the 100-yard freestyle with a school-record time of 49.68, while Simone finished third.

Two more school record were set, as Farricker notched a new mark of 55.99 during his winning 100-yard butterfly swim, while sophomore Sean Redahan’s team-record score of 117.70 in the one-meter diving was good for third place.

The four qualifiers for the New England Championships are Apostolides in the 200-yard freestyle, Thomas Foley in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke, Tate Robinson in the 100-yard butterfly and Nelson Vargas also in the 100-yard butterfly.

The Bruins return to action at Mehra Natatorium on Saturday with a home meet against Kent at 3:30 p.m.
