Sidewalk Art Show Artists Recognized

Visual artists of all ages were recognized with awards of excellence for their artworks in the 64th Annual Sidewalk Art Show and Sale and at the Sidewalk Show for Young Artists. The art shows, both sponsored by the Art Society of Old Greenwich (ASOG), took place Oct. 17 and 18 in Old Greenwich. Judge for the show was noted artist and teacher Richard Byrnes.

In the Sidewalk Show and Sale, professional and avocational artists exhibited their works in watercolor, oil, acrylic, drawing/graphics, photography, sculpture, pastel and mixed media. They received cash awards, which were presented on Oct. 18 at the show, along Sound Beach Avenue.

Children and teens with artworks in the Sidewalk Show for Young Artists, expressed their creativity in painting, drawing, collage, photography and sculpture. Cash awards, generously donated by the Dowling Group, were presented to the young artists at a pizza party celebration on Nov. 6 at the Riverside branch of the Greenwich Bank and Trust, which sponsored the celebration.

The 2015 Young Artist winners were: Ages 5 and under: Griffen Greene, first place; Jack Wade, second place; Gemma Beasley, third place. Ages 6 to 7: Ale Figueria, first place; Sienna Barlow, second place; Jason Rosenthal, third place. Ages 8 to 9: Mary Grace Lynch, first place; Fioro Tiberi, second place; Max Kruegar, third place. Ages 10 to 11: Andre Weirdling, first place; Thomas Connolly, second place; Sami Goldman, third place. Ages 12 to 14: Ana McCormick first place; Marie Sokolova, second place; Liam Kirkpatrick, third place. Ages 15 to 17: Nina Rosenblum, first place; Olivia Lynch, second place; Ben Rosenthal, third place.

Winners in the adult category were: Lisa Cuscuna, second place for photography and honorable mention for oils; Sandra Walker, first place for photography; Dubby Bogdan, second place for drawing/graphics/pastel; Carol Dixon, third place for photography and honorable mention for mixed media; Elizabeth Vazquez, second place for mixed media; Frank Smurlo, third place for acrylic; Mary Fike, first place for mixed media; Dan Grimsich, honorable mention for watercolor; Christie Coon, first place for watercolor; Bette Anne Wygant, second place for oils; Barbara Stretton, second place for sculpture and third place for oils; Jack Dobrucky, third place for watercolor; Chet Saur; first place for oil; Eleanor Eaton, second place for watercolor; James Ryan, first place for acrylics; Ben Bonart, second place for acrylic; Emily Teall, first place for drawing/graphics/pastel and honorable mention for acrylic; Richard Tedeschi, honorable mention for photography; Vivian Bergenthal, third place for mixed media; Joe Sorge, first place for sculpture; and Myra Lehman, third place for sculpture.
