Brunswick Wrestling Takes Top Honors at Canterbury Tourney

The Brunswick School wrestling team started the winter season in grand fashion by winning the Canterbury Tournament Saturday afternoon.

The Bruins finished first place out of nineteen teams in the opening tournament, finishing with 199 points. The next closest team was Trinity Pawling with 128 points. Avon Old Farms took the bronze with 82 points and Choate Rosemary Hall grabbed fourth with 65 points.

Rounding out the top five finishers in the Canterbury Tournament was Loomis Chaffee School with 53 points.

In total, 12 Brunswick wrestlers placed in the top four out of 14 weight classes, and Jon Errico received Most Valuable Player honors for the day.

In addition to Errico, both Lucas Bell and Joe Fervil were champions in their respective weight class. Finishing as a runner-up on Saturday were a plethora of Brunswick athletes. Brooks Hennessy, Andrew Hennessy, Aidan Reynolds, Alex Russell and Lachlan Rosato each took home second place.

Netting third place finishes were John DeLucia and Sandro Mariani, while the Brunswick duo of Rishi Das and Alex Tucker finished fourth on the day.
