Eating Disorders Presentation At Town Hall

Parents, individuals, and professionals will learn ways to avoid the heartbreaking consequences of anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating from Dr. Erin Kleifield, Director of the Eating Disorders Program at Silver Hill Hospital. The event will take place from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12, at Greenwich Town Hall, 101 Field Point Road. A question and answer period will follow.

In her presentation, “Understanding Eating Disorders,” Dr. Kleifield explains ways in which early identification and intervention can change the quality of life, even save a life. An estimated 24 million individuals in the United States now struggle with eating disorders, complex conditions that have the highest mortality rate of any mental illness.

Psychologist Erin Kleifield focuses on treating patients with eating disorders, including Anorexia Nervosa, Compulsive Overeating, and Body Dysmorphic Disorder. She has been a clinical instructor of Psychology in Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College, and currently directs the Eating Disorders Program at Silver Hill Hospital.
