And they did it in five days. A yearly activity run by Silke Oellrich, NMS PTA VP Health and Wellness – it took place during the week of Oct. 5 to 9.
At recess, encouraged by the parents and teachers, children voluntarily exercised by running and walking laps – with a goal of covering up to a mile each day. The distance run by all of the students was tallied and drawn on the map in the Cafeteria as the kids traversed the U.S. showing their progress from NMS as they made their way across the country. Grades first to fifth, principals, teachers, staff and parents joined the run.
