Carolina Sculti is a diver for the Greenwich Marlins and earlier this month, she won a gold medal at the the Junior Pan Am Championships in the 14-15 girls’ 1 meter event.

“It was unreal. everything I have been working for paid off,” said Sculti.

And coach Dylan Korn says Sculti works hard.

“Carolina comes to us about six days a week. We practice two days in the early morning, and then afternoons. We also go to Eisenhower Park in L.I. to practice platform, so it’s a pretty packed week,” said Korn.

“It’s very time consuming, but it all pays off,” said Sculti.

This is Sculti’s second Pan Am gold medal- she won first place on the platform in the 2011 games.

“She’s constantly pushing herself, wanting to learn harder dives,” said Korn.

Sculti began diving when she was just six years old.

“I was doing swimming and diving at my country club, and I was really bad at swimming. I switched overt to diving,” said Sculti.

And she’s never looked back. Sculti is now preparing for the international meet CAMO in Canada, and then it’s off to Senior Nationals.

“If you get a certain score at Senior Nationals, you qualify for the Olympic trials. That would be so cool,” said Sculti.

“We have a lot of other aspiring divers who want to be like Carolina and do well like she’s been doing. It give sour other divers a chance to say, you know what I can do it too,” said Korn.
