Impact Fairfield County Announces Meeting in Greenwich

Impact Fairfield County Fall Meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 14 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Innis Arden Club in Old Greenwich, will kick-off their inaugural year of grant making.

Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from the original Impact 100 founder, Wendy Steele. Wendy’s idea for promoting philanthropy took root in Cincinnati in 2001 and became Impact 100 Cincinnati. We will also hear from Juanita T. James, the President and CEO of Fairfield County’s Community Foundation. Juanita will share her perspective on the needs in Fairfield County. In addition, attendees will hear more about the Impact model and be provided with a chance to join as a member.

Impact Fairfield County’s mission is to unite women in the community in a common cause. They collectively raise $1,000 membership funds to allow organizations to “dream big” and annually award $100,000 grants to local non-profits. Total funding is determined by the amount of members who contribute towards the grants. Excess funds will be divided among the nonwinning finalists of the grants process for general operating support.

Grant finalists are determined through a detailed process of proposal review and evaluation by members, and the grant recipients are chosen by a vote of the membership at the Impact Fairfield County Annual Meeting in May.

Every membership dollar raised will go directly to the grants awarded in May.

Membership contributions are due by Dec. 1 and are a one-year commitment. Continuing as a member is an annual decision, however, multi-year membership is an option. Impact Fairfield County’s modest administrative expenses are funded by operating donations from members and Friends of Impact Fairfield County. Many members provide contributions in excess of $1,000, in addition to other individuals, businesses and foundations who help to support these operating.
