Omar R. Adame, a 42-year resident of Greenwich, died on Sept. 20 following a lengthy struggle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was 84 years old.

Omar was born in the Bronx on May 21, 1931 to Don and Ruth (Iscra) Adame. He graduated of Mount Saint Michael Academy in the Bronx and Centre College in Danville, Ky., where he studied chemistry and biology and was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity.

A proud U.S. Air Force veteran, he began serving in 1952, joining the Strategic Air Command and flying KC-97’s on mid-air refueling missions.  In 1954, he joined the New York Air National Guard, often flying as a volunteer to Vietnam. He retired in 1982 as a brigadier general.

In civilian life, Omar’s career in the cosmetics industry spanned 30 years, during which he served as a senior executive with Orlane/Jean D’Albret and Adrien Arpel, and most recently, as CEO of Theodore Rapp Associates.

Omar was passionate about his family, flying, photography and travel, and was renowned for his personal generosity.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Margaret Hayes, daughter Alexandra, and daughter Liz Adame from a previous marriage. He is also survived by his devoted brother, Ramon, and by grandchildren Quincy, Casey and Febee.

Friends honored his life yesterday, Sept. 24, at Coxe & Graziano Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place today, Friday, at 11 a.m. at St. Catherine of Sienna, followed by interment at Putnam Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, through michaeljfox.org.
