Obituary: Margaret Valenti

Margaret Valenti, of Greenwich, died Sept. 18 at age 98.

Margaret was born on Jan. 15, 1917 in Nanty Glo, Penn., (the town name is a Welsh phrase meaning “brook of coal”) to Valentino and Ella Bako DePra.

Margaret was a devoted homemaker and the beloved wife of the late Frank Valenti. She leaves behind her cherished children, Robert Valenti (Valerie DeVito) of Stamford and Anita Valenti, Janice Kolok and Sherry Krieger, all of Greenwich; her dear sister, Bernice Carroll of Riverside; and sister-in-law Sandra Valenti.

She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Donna Conti of Greenwich, Dana Maurer of Pelham, George Krieger of Schaumburg, Ill., Scott Kolok of Oklahoma, Aaron and Justin Valenti, Kristin Krieger and Mary Wilcutt of Galloway, N.J.; and 12 great-grandchildren: Jordan, Dina, Julia, Jenna, Jimmy, Alexis, Emma, Grace, Donny, Francisca, Leiliana,
and Tommy.

Margaret was predeceased by her four brothers: John, Stephen, Albert and William DePra, and two sisters: Ethel Martello and Helen Pace.

For many years Margaret was an active participant in the Greenwich Senior Center, Glenville Seniors, Glenville AARP, and the Altar & Rosary Guild of Sacred Heart Church. She was a founding member of the St. Jude Mother’s Club.
