Letter: Thank You Greenwich

lettertotheeditor

To the Editor,

On behalf of the Greenwich Community Projects Fund and September 11th Memorial here in town, we would like to say “Thank you!”

Thank you to all who came out on September 11th as we officially unveiled the memorial.  The overwhelming outpouring of support demonstrated how we, as a community, have come together to honor the 33 victims with ties to Greenwich.  More than 750 people stood together overlooking Cos Cob Harbor as we heard from religious leaders and family members about the importance of the memorial.  Thank you to Chief Jim Heavey and our wonderful police department for ensuring the day went smoothly.

Thank you also to more than 1,000 people who gave from $1 to $50,000.  Without your support the memorial would have remained an idea.  Your support made it a reality.

A special thank you to Chuck Hilton and Nick Rotondi for designing such a beautiful memorial. And to Peter Tesei, Joe Siciliano, Jim Michael and Gabriella Circosta Cohee for helping navigate the town process in order to accept the memorial.

Last, and most importantly, thank you to the families whose loved one’s names are on the memorial.  Thank you for your faith, your patience and your love as we endeavored to honor those who were lost.

James Ritman & Demi Wasilko Ferraris
Co-Presidents
