The Greenwich High School girls volleyball team started its season with a win against Fairfield Ludlowe last week and on Monday, the girls faced St Joe’s of Trumbull.

The Cadets start the first set off hot. Claire Condron spikes this one down and gives St. Joe’s a 20-9 lead. But Greenwich fights back- Abbey Wolf gets a quick five points for the Cardinals, who pull within two with this ace from Maggy Egan- she gets four of those throughout the night.

But the Cadets will hold onto the lead and capture the first set 25-22.

The Cadets and Cardinals battle it out in set two. Fast forward to things all tied up 23. Riann Rooney spikes this one and Greenwich can’t come up with it. Cadets take the lead.

Wolf makes it an even score again with this spike, and Greenwich doesn’t look back.

Morgan Rafferty gets this hit past the block, one of her 17 kills of the night- Cardinals up by one. Nadia Sotgiu finishes this set off with a hit that St. Joe’s can’t return.

Greenwich wins the second set 28-26.

The teams battle it out for 2 more sets, and the Cardinals win 3-1. Greenwich is now 2-0 and will play again Thursday at Westhill at 5:30.
