The Greenwich Police Department says a man has died after accidentally driving his car into the Cos Cob Marina.
“We had an elderly man drive off of the boat ramp into the water, and horrifically and tragically has died. That accident was witnessed by his family members who were there as well,” said Lt. Kraig Gray.
Police say the man is an 80 year old Wall, New Jersey resident and he was driving this car on the boat ramp when he lost control. Officials say the dive team determined the car was 12 feet below the water line.
“They were able to recover a body from the car. He was found in cardiac arrest and was given CPR by GEMS. There were no other victims found in the car,” said Deputy Chielf Thomas Zack.
Police and fire officials say they will release more information as it becomes available.
