VIDEO: Rummage Room Manager to Retire After 20 Years

There be a new manager at the Rummage Room for the first time in 20 years. Maria Drieghe has announced she will be retiring at the end of the month.

“I started when my car broke down and I needed to sue the phone. SO, I went tot he Rummage Room,” said Drieghe.

She then began volunteering at the Rummage Room until she worked her way up to her current position.

“This is my life, this is my family,” said Drieghe.

Drieghe says she will spend some time relaxing with her family when she officially retires on August 31.

“My father is going to be 91 in September so I need to be there for that,”s aid Drieghe.

Leanna Meyer will be taking over as Manager of the Rummage Room. The thrift store, located in Old Greenwich, is operated by the Women’s Fellowship of First Congregational Church and has just reopened after three weeks of re-stocking.

“So far, we made $9,000, but my goal is $10,000,” sad Drieghe.
