The state of Connecticut will offer its Sales Tax Holiday Week beginning Aug. 16 through Aug. 22. It applies to articles of clothing and footwear costing less than $100 each, and is intended to coincide with parents’ seasonal back-to-school shopping needs.
In past years, however, the tax holiday allowed shoppers to avoid sales tax on items that cost less than $300.
According to the National Retail Association, the average family with children in grades K-12 plans to spend $630 on back-to-school shopping.
