Day three of the John Yoon public appeal hearing has just concluded at Glenville School. Yoon is the former Greenwich High School band director who was fired earlier this year for allegedly bullying two students.

About 40 people sat in the gym listening to the hearing, most of them wearing “Bring Back Mr. Yoon” buttons.

“My experience with Mr. Yoon as the band teacher has just been amazing. He’s really like my mentor,” said rising junior Mia Costanzo.

Yoon is accused of bullying two students by humiliating them and making them feel inadequate. These students are know as Students A and B.

Two witnesses testified today. The first was Michael Mossman, a music composer, performer and professor. Mossman said that when students are unprepared for band class it is quote “in some cases a professional necessity” to call them out. But the second witness, father of Student A, says Yoon went too far.

The Father of Student A, who cannot be identified at this time, says Yoon used his son asg an example to threaten other students.

But through it all, Yoon has been supported by former students, colleagues, and family members.

“Mr. Yoon always went the extra mile to try to do the best he could for the students. He pushed us as hard as he could so we could be the best we could be,” said rising junior Jackie O’Malley.

The next hearing will be on August 31.
