VIDEO: Greenwich Cannons 15U Crowned Champions

The Greenwich Cannons 15U baseball team has just been crowned champions of the 2015 “Sharkey” Memorial Tournament for the first time since 2007.

The Cannons faced the Norwalk Revolution at Cubeta Field in Stamford on Tuesday night.

The scoring gets started early. Norwalk’s Ari Lauder hits this single to center and then steals second. Tom Troy walks to put runners on first and second. Lauder steals three and crosses the plate on a sac fly from Matt Troy- 1-0 Norwalk.

Now let’s go to the top of the third- Greenwich pitcher Danny Hupal helps himself with this lead off single. He is thrown out at second on a fielders choice by Aaron Shur, but Schur will score on this RBI single from Brandon Chow. Things are all tied up at 1 after 2 and half innings.

The bats come alive for the Cannons again in the fifth. A mixture of singles and base stealing from Chow, Charlie Zeeve, and Jake Bernstein give Greenwich a 4-1 lead.

Norwalk tries to make a come back here with this double from Matt Troy in the bottom of the sixth, but Greenwich shuts down the attempt with good pitching and defense. Hupal dominates on the mound for the Cannons, here getting one of his 3 k’s n six innings of work.

Greenwich scores two more in the top of the seventh wand goes on to beat Norwalk 6-1 in the championship game.

The Cannons ended this tournament 3-1.
