It was all about the sun, the surf and lots of sand here at Tod’s Point Beach Saturday afternoon for SANDBLAST! 2015.
“Since it is a beautiful day at the beach and it is beach season, we like to have this event here so that anyone at the beach can participate. It’s just a great way to get the community together,” said Patricia Troiano, Recreation Supervisor for the Town’s Department of Parks and Recreation.
Sponsored by the Greenwich Arts Council and the Town’s Department of Parks and Recreation, participants were encouraged to let their imaginations take the spotlight and enjoy the sand in between their toes.
“I just love being able to come down and see all the creativity from everyone else. You feed off the energy of everyone,” said Riverside resident Teek Eaton-Koch.
Armed with shovels, pails and buckets, artist of all ages created everything from cities to desserts that looked good enough to eat.
“We made a birthday cake for Greenwich for 375 years,” said Greenwich resident Claire.

“This is probably our 7th or 8th year coming. As a family we collaborate and come up with a design and this year we decided to do a turtle,” said Patti Calautti of Katonah, NY. “It was something we started with our kids when they were little and we hope it continues on for more generations.”

“That is what it is all about. It is about getting everybody together – families, friends, neighbors – so they can do one of these events together while enjoying one of our beautiful parks,” said Troiano.
