The Greenwich Free Press hosted a multi organization animal adoption event on Saturday July 11 at Coxe & Graziano Funeral Home. Dogs and cats from Adopt-A-Dog, Northwind Kennels, Passionworks Rescue, Rising Rin Dove, STAR Relief and Cat Assistance were on site for the community to meet. All of the animals at the event were available for adoption and applications were on scene to start to process if interested.

“A lot of the pets here were pulled from kill shelters, they were actually on the euthanasia list. They’re amazing animals, they would make amazing companions, great house pets and are great with kids. It’s really important to come out and adopt instead of purchasing from a pet store, that’s the most important thing,” said Heather Scutti.

There are many advantages to adopting from rescue groups like the ones here today.

“When you come down to a rescue group most of the pets are fostered so they’re living with a family so you already know what you’re going to get. You know the pet’s temperament, they’re up to date on vaccinations, they’re neutered. Those are important issues when you want to adopt a pet, the rescue groups will educate you all about the pet,” said Heather Scutti.
