Thursday marked the official opening day of the inaugural Greenwich International Film Festival.

The day began with films at Bow Tie Cinemas. One film named “Wildlike” had a Q&A with director Frank Hall Green after the screening.

“Alaska was in my mind for this terrific backdrop and I wanted to tell a story of someone going out into nature and what kind of effect that could have,” said Green.

And sports guys like Mark Teixeira, Allan Houston, and Mike Greenberg got together to discuss their favorite sports movies in the “Sports Guys on Sports Films” panel.

“If I had to pick one it would be ‘Love and Basketball’,” said Houston.

“It’s tough to say there’s one favorite, but being a baseball player, you have to say ‘Major League’ and ‘Bull Durham’ are the two best,” said Teixeira.

“I love ‘Hoosiers’. I love underdog stories and true stories,” said Cary Woods, the producer of “Rudy”.

“I love theater. I love film. I love the fact that there is something like this in this community,” said Greenberg.

The Greenwich International Film Festival goes through Sunday June 7. For tickets and more information, visit www.greenwichfilm.org.
