The PTA of Greenwich has recognized eight members for their volunteer work
within the schools.

“To be a volunteer is to sacrifice time that could be spent somewhere else,
either at home, the office, the golf course, etc,” said Mike Trogni of the
Greenwich PTA Council.

This year’s Essence award went to Julie Faryniarz who as been involved with
the PTA for 17 years.

“I believe so much in the PTA and getting parents involved working with
the principals and the districts to make great things happen,” said
Faryniarz.

Her youngest son will be graduating from Greenwich High School at in a
few weeks, but her work with the schools won’t stop there. Faryniarz is
currently the executive director of the Greenwich Alliance for Education.

“What I do now for work impacts the kids in the Greenwich Public Schools.
So, I’m proud to be able to continue in that,” said Faryniarz.

Faryniarz says her favorite memory has been meeting some of her closest
friends through the PTA.
