Greenwich Enjoys a Special Spring Fling at French Farm

The public got a special inside look at one of the oldest
properties in Greenwich- the French Farm built between 1906
and 1915.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity for member of the Greenwich community
to visit French Farm, which is both a private property and a
property on the Nation Register of Historic Places,” said Keri Reitman
of the Greenwich Historical Society.

“The name French Farm comes from one of the early owners of the
property, Mary Billings French,” said Jacek Nidzgorski of French
Farm.

The last owner of the farm was David Wiersma. He created the
organization “Friends of French Farm” which aims to preserve the
farm.

“One of the things he really enjoyed was having community members
come here twice a year to see the gardens and animals,” said
Nidzgorski.

And families experienced everything from sheering sheep to tasting
honey at Spring Fling at French Farm.

“We generally make events once or twice a year with the Greenwich
Historical Society which was one of David’s favorite organizations
in Town,” said Nidzgorski.

Organizers say this partnership between the Greenwich Historical
Society and French Farms is exactly what Wiersma had in mind. For
