Nancy Gale Simpson (nee Jimolka) passed away on June 13, much too early. She was 61 years old.
Nancy was born on Aug. 24, 1955 to Dolores (Slater) Peterkin of Greenwich and the late Edward C. Jimolka, in Stamford. She was the wife of Francis (Sonny) Merritt of Greenwich and the mother of Edward June (E.J.) of Greenwich and California.
She is also survived by her four brothers, David and Peter Jimolka and Marc and Matthew Peterkin, and one sister, Eileen Peterkin.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Ellyn Jimolka Rivera and Apryl Peterkin.
Nancy is survived as well by many nieces and nephews, her great-aunt Evelyn Slater Mattison, and her aunts Lorraine Peterkin and Robin McClenney.
Nancy worked at Fawcett Publications, UST and UJA in Greenwich. She enjoyed sleeping over at Island Beach with her husband, Sonny. She also enjoyed cooking out with friends, knitting and crocheting blankets for many friends and babies. While working at UJA, she regarded a trip she took to Jerusalem as a great honor.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 23 from 4 to 7 p.m., at Castiglione Funeral Home, 544 Old Post Rd. No. 3, Greenwich. Burial will be private.
